The Newport Township Board of Commissioners have declared a State of Emergency in the Township due to the recent concerns of COVID-19 known more commonly as the Coronavirus.The telephonic procedure for meetings will be in place until the state of emergency due to the COVID-19 Pandemic that was declared by the commissioners on March 17 is lifted.
At this time the Coal Street and Alden playgrounds and the Wanamie Recreation Park will REMAIN OPEN UNTIL DUSK. To prevent the spread of covid-19 please use social distancing of 10 feet between others that may be present.

You are reminded that the Pennsylvania Fireworks Law,72P.S. 9401, ET.SEQ., PROHIBITS anyone from intentionally igniting or discharging consumer fireworks within 150 feet of an occupied structure.
If you need to file a complaint call 911 and give the name and address of where the violation is occurring.

Welcome to the newly redesigned Newport Township web site! All the information you found on the old site should still be here. We’ve simply updated the layout and added a few new features. The web site is very much a work in progress and we hope you’ll excuse us for any inconvenience.

RESIDENTS OF NEWPORT TOWNSHIP
THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE IS CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC DUE TO THE STATE OF EMERGENCY.
Newport Township announces that Waste Management will resume bulk item pickup with the regular service on June 4th and 5th. Residents are reminded one item per household. Please do not abuse this service.
Payments may be placed in the drop box located on the front of the building. Payment amount is $279.13 in the form of check or money order payable to Newport Township. Please use one of the white envelopes in the plastic tote. Stickers and receipts will be mailed back to you.
Building and Occupancy Forms:
The building forms are available in the tote. Please fill out the forms including your phone numbers. We will call you to finish the process.
The Occupancy forms are also in the tote. Please fill out the form and include a check or money order for $85.00 payable to Newport Township. We will call you to schedule the inspection.

Smoke detectors, maximum 2 per family, are available free of charge at the Newport Township Fire Station, 1002 Center Street, Wanamie. Newport Township residents can pick them up while supplies last.
